DLI Training values community engagement and wants to provide the skills that our community needs. We engage with employers, community groups and local councils to find out what they are looking for and make sure we are teaching those skills. Below are some of our recent community events including a gala open day, employment expo and try-a-trade event.

Feedback from the event:
I don’t know if you understand the full extent of the positive impact you have had on our centre as a whole. Yesterdays event not only got our kids engaged in practical real life situations, career options, engaging with potential employers and support structures but it gave staff on both ETU and YJ side a common understanding and conversation starters of career options. As Ead put it, yesterdays event was us putting our best foot forward for these young people who whilst here we are there parental figures and if we are not giving them our best how can they achieve the best. The conversations have already started about what next, which giving the lack of practical based programs we have prior to yesterday the immediate impact is people are willing again to focus on what these kids need in a safe and secure manner.
This was an open day focusing on employment outcomes, there was the opportunity to try a trade, practical workshops and employers will onsite to interview people for over 270 job opportunities.
Over 160 people turned up including State Training Services NSW, Navitas, Impact HR, Milwaukee Tools, Bingo, MTC, Interwork, Verto and Chester Hill School.
