CONFINED SPACE TRAINING

The Combined Confined Spaces Entry Course & Gas Test Atmospheres Course includes RIIWHS202E Enter and work in confined spaces, MSMPER200 Work in accordance with an issued permit and MSMWHS217 Gas test atmospheres.

The course covers the critical safety aspects of entering and working in confined spaces, and the testing of a working atmosphere to determine if it is safe for the proposed work. The confined space and gas testing training course is designed for any person who may be required to work in confined spaces and/or gas test atmospheres as a part of their work duties, or for those who are looking to enter this field of work.

Combining training for both confined spaces ticket and gas test atmospheres can offer several advantages:

• • Ability to be the stand-by person that can enter confirmed spaces and conduct gas test operations.
  • Many sites and employers are looking for people with confined space entry and gas tester as a requirement.

Course Outline: RIIWHS202E Enter and Work in Confined Spaces:

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to enter and work in confined spaces in the resources and infrastructure industries.

It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known
routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of work
outcomes.

Course Outline :  MSMPER200 Work in Accordance With an Issued Permit:

This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to work in
accordance with an issued permit. It aims to ensure that people working
under a permit to work understand the system, know the limitations of the
permit under which they are working and comply with all the requirements of
the permit. The people to whom this unit applies may be called ‘permit
recipients’ or ‘permit holders’ by some organisations. Some organisations call
‘permits’ ‘clearances’.

By completing this course the participant will gain the knowledge and the
skills to

1. Apply for permit
2. Identify the scope of the permit
3. Prepare for permitted work
4. Work in accordance with an issued permit
5. Complete permit to work

• Minimum 18 years of age
• Fitness and agility to undertake the course Not afraid of dark, enclosed spaces
• Level 2 LLN minimum (refer to Language Literacy Numeracy Chart)

Face to Face

• Confined Space Combined (1 day)
• Confined Space Entry (1 Day)
• Gas Test Atmospheres (Half Day)

• Client site: workplace training available on request

Students will be assessed using relevant assessment methods which includes but is not limited to the following:

• • Knowledge evidence requires student to answer a range of theory questions.
  • Performance evidence to demonstrate practical ability to meet each unit assessment requirements

Upon successful completion of the course (Confined Space COMBINED ), students will be issued with:

• Statement of Attainment for the unit RIIWHS202E Enter and work in
  confined spaces.
• Statement of Attainment for the unit MSMPER200 Work in accordance
  with an issued permit.
• Statement of Attainment for MSMWHS217 Gas test atmospheres.
• Students may also request an optional wallet sized card reflecting their achievement for an additional fee of $10.

Upon successful completion of the course (Confined Space Entry Course ), students will be issued with:

• Statement of Attainment for the unit RIIWHS202E Enter and work in
  confined spaces.
• Statement of Attainment for the unit MSMPER200 Work in accordance
  with an issued permit.
• Students may also request an optional wallet sized card reflecting their achievement for an additional fee of $10.

Upon successful completion of the course (Gas Test Atmospheres Course), students will be issued with:

• Statement of Attainment for MSMWHS217 Gas test atmospheres.
