Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment training COURSE DETAILS

Demonstrate First Attack Firefighting Equipment Training Course is designed to equip the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively handle firefighting equipment. Here’s what you’ll learn:

Element 1: Demonstrate and explain the correct use of a portable fire extinguisher to extinguish a simulated fire

– Understand and articulate the purpose and operation of various types of fire extinguishers to relevant individuals.

– Identify different fire types and their classifications.

– Select the appropriate fire extinguisher based on the type and classification of the fire.

– Demonstrate the safe and proper usage of a fire extinguisher to combat a fire in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.

Element 2: Demonstrate and explain the correct use of the fire hose reel.

– Explain the purpose and functionality of a fire hose reel to relevant individuals.

– Properly deploy the fire hose reel following the manufacturer’s instructions.

– Operate the fire hose reel nozzle to direct the water stream accurately at the designated target.

– Shut down the water flow in the approved sequence and inspect the hose reel for leaks per the manufacturer’s guidelines.

– Rewind the fire hose reel after use as per the manufacturer’s requirements.

Element 3: Demonstrate and explain the use of a fire blanket.

Clearly explain the purpose and application of a fire blanket.

– Demonstrate the safe and correct usage of a fire blanket to suppress a fire according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

The units of competency listed above are current on the National Register of VET at the time of publication.

Course Requirements

Numeracy

-Perform basic calculations

Reading

– Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to operate emergency equipment.

– Interpret and follow workplace procedures.

Oral Communications

– Conduct a visual and verbal assessment of an emergency situation.

– Contribute to a post-incident debrief and evaluation

– Provide an accurate verbal report of an incident to a supervisor and/or ECO.

Communicate with all parties involved in an emergency.

Renewal

The recommended refresher for training should be carried out annualy for this unit with a maximum time of 2 Years between refreshers, Ask your employer about their currency expectations.
